Pilgrim Learning Community aims to offer, in cooperation with Presbyteries, Congregations and agencies, a range of learning opportunities around Queensland, to serve the Uniting Church, Queensland Synod, and the general community.
Along with Trinity Theological College and the network of regional campuses in the various Presbyteries, Pilgrim Learning Community, forms the Queensland Synod's Network for Christian Formation.
Trinity offers university-level studies. Part of its responsibility is the formation of candidates for ordination.
Pilgrim Learning Community, on the other hand is, at this stage, primarily responsible for lay education. (When further resources become available, Pilgrim may also be able to do more in the area of Continuing Education for people in ordained and other specified ministries.)
Pilgrim Learning Community, therefore, is a network of people associated with the Uniting Church who are committed to teaching and learning in order to deepen our own spirituality, equip people for community service and enrich the worship, witness and service of local churches. It offers an expanding range of courses and educational experiences consistent with Uniting Church beliefs and practices. Participation is open to all.
Along with Trinity Theological College, Pilgrim Learning Community reports to and is accountable to the Queensland Synod through the Board for Christian Formation. The Board is appointed by the Synod and meets about four times per year.
Pilgrim has an advisory committee, whose members come from Presbyteries, the Chaplaincy Commission and Multi- and Cross-cultural Ministry. This meets approximately twice each year.
